Our review on lichen research and omics

Our review on lichen research in the omics era is out in The Lichenologist! In the review, we discuss omics-driven progress in several areas of lichen biology, including evolutionary biology and studies of lichen organismal composition, and outline several areas and methods that we believe are especially promising moving forward. The latter include spatial transcriptomics, epigenomics, and protein structure modelling.

We also discussed lichen metagenomics in more depth, including overview of methods applied to lichen metagenomic data, common pitfalls, and things to consider while designing a metagenomics project.
